Clear Cast Acrylic
Casting yields a harder, sturdier, and more homogenous product that offers a greater range of thickness - up to 4”. Compared to extrusion, casting is more pliable, has greater chemical resistance, and is less likely to bend, chip, or melt during milling. Extruded acrylic is less expensive, more dimensionally stable meaning thickness is more consistent across the sheet. Custom fabrication is easier and thus more cost-effective. Because of its lower melting point, extruded plastic sheets are better suited to cementing and thermoforming.
Manufactured by casting the chemicals, initiators, and additives into a mold and allowing it to form/set that way giving it a higher molecular weight. It has better thermal stability, higher resistance to cracking, good thermoforming range, UV-resistant, and has greater scratch tolerances. It is completely transparent and has tremendous optical clarity, resembling glass but is 17 times the strength. Cast Acrylic can easily be shaped, machined, and laser-cut.
