Delrin® 150 is a highly versatile engineering plastic with metal-like properties. The chemical composition and highly crystalline structure of this homopolymer acetal, Delrin® 150, is widely known for properties such as - high tensile strength, creep resistance, chemical resistance, and durability. This homopolymer acetal has exceptional sliding characteristics and combines low-friction and high-wear resistance making it ideal for many mechanical applications. Delrin® 150 is a standard general-purpose, unfilled acetal.
Compared to acetal copolymer, Delrin® 150 an acetal homopolymer offers higher mechanical properties such as significantly higher impact resistance, but slightly less chemical resistance. The combination of these excellent mechanical properties in a single material allows for thinner, lighter-weight parts and shorter molding cycles with potential cost reductions. Also unlike the acetal copolymer, the Delrin® 150 homopolymer has centerline porosity - a flexible extruded shell that avoids pockets as the volume changes, especially in large cross-sections. Because of this porosity, Delrin® 150 is not compliant with USP class 6, but it is FDA, USDA, and NSP compliant in the natural grade.
Features
- Slightly higher tensile strength, impact resistance, and rigidity than acetal copolymer
- Excellent fatigue endurance
- Great resistance to moisture, gasoline, solvents, and many other neutral chemicals
- Outstanding dimensional stability
- Exceptional machining characteristics
- Good electrical insulating characteristics
- Good resilience and resistance to creep
- Resistance to extreme temperature ranges
- FDA, NSF, USDA & 3A Dairy approved (Please note, the black color sheets are not FDA compliant)
