As of today, general-purpose copolymer acetal is the only porosity free acetal product available in the market as measured by Quadrant EPP’s quick check dye penetrant test. Acetal Copolymer natural is FDA, USDA, NSF, Canada AG, and 3A-Dairy compliant. This provides the performance and machinability of acetal without center core porosity making it the preferred acetal for food contact and medical applications.
As a semi-crystalline material, Acetal offers high strength and rigidity along with dimensional stability and toughness properties that allow it to endure long-term fatigue and exposure to extreme temperatures. The low coefficient of friction and good wear properties make it ideal for application in both dry and wet environments.
Compared to a homopolymer, such as Delrin®, acetal copolymer is widely used for applications that require performance at high temperatures and chemical resistance. Because acetal absorbs minimal amounts of moisture, its physical properties remain consistent in a variety of environments, hence excellent dimensional stability. In high moisture or submerged applications, acetal bearings outperform nylon 4 to 1.
Features:
- Very low moisture absorption making it ideal for dry and wet environments
- High tensile strength and rigidity
- Easy to machine
- Resistances to extreme temperature and endurance to fatigue
- Excellent dimensional stability for tight tolerances
- FDA, USDA, NSF, Canada AG, and 3-A Dairy compliant (Please note, the black color sheet is not FDA compliant)
